REPORT OF ADVENTURE born by chance ... (from April 23 to May 2, 2008)
Since I started traveling, such a scene I had not ever happened, I had only seen in movies or on the news! But when the day April 23, 2008, after the plane had already begun to move in perfect time and we were about to take off, and at some point it stopped, we have sent down and I saw our Boeing surrounded by police, Fire and sniffer dogs, then yes I am really c. .... below! The beauty is that three hours after we have restarted, another Ryanair plane after having checked "very carefully" a certain MOHAMMED Alirio that was on our flight, and until we arrived at our destination we were not unveiled the mysterious reason for this ... simply we were the victims of an alleged terrorist attack, then fortunately proved only a hoax! Well ... well ... these days there may be, you have to take into account. The fact is that we had to be at the airport to Billund for 22.00 per pick up the rental car, but the poor boy from Hertz there has seen the first one in the morning! What can you do? If any of superfine intelligence had decided to do the trick of the bomb on the plane, not Mica is not our fault!
We decide to leave the car at the airport and take the next morning, so that night we had a room booked at Zleep Hotel, which is practically inside the airport, and easily reachable on foot. (A double room with breakfast, 699 DKK, ie € 84.00 per couple! Note that this hotel is among the cheapest!).
From next day onwards, our adventure begins Danish, transported by a Hiundai i30 1.6 diesel, which rank among those of Hertz cars "small", as we had requested we being only 2 and already .... that would be a sign of the conception of "Little" different from ours that the Danes, especially the cost of living! Left the hotel, and after seeing the park closed because of Legoland opened the next day, we decide to continue to Silkeborg, a very nice country in the region Lakes, saying to us, to console the non visit the amusement park, "Oh well ... come on, however, seems to see it from outside a park for children too, would be money thrown away !"... but deep down We also know that it was just an excuse ... visited the country and toured the shops, we find a room to sleep through the tourist office of the place, very well organized in a B & B a bit of a lady outside the center, in a wooden house with a large garden in front, 7 cats, a pond with ducks and geese .... truly a place to relax and be calm!
The next morning we are greeted by a breakfast delivered to rooms directly from the lady with four different things, from Nutella seasoned with tomatoes, sweet affection in a typical Danish ... in short, of hospitality and kindness is nothing to say to these people, maybe a little something to complain about prices but eh ... stuffed full as an egg, we continue our tour towards Skagen, but first we stop to visit to Aalborg, a small town full of young people, crossed the sea . Very nice, feature, fun and pulita.Ripartiamo Skagen along the coast to the north, and we note that all roads in Denmark,
even the most isolated, are lined by a bike path. Amazing how a whole nation is moving so much cycling. Really should not be incredible, but normal for the whole world, we who, in my opinion, we have a misconception of the use of the car!
arrive in Skagen and visit the center, very impressive. Unfortunately we arrived around 16.00 and there at that hour on Saturday is already closed all belonging to the supermarket! Around there is almost nobody on the other hand what I had read in the guide on the famous light of Skagen, it's all true! This country has a great atmosphere and I do not surprising that many painters have tried to reproduce it in their paintings. We reach Gammel Skagen, 4 km west of Skagen, a small seaside village, with houses all alike, and a sunset over the North Sea will take your breath away.
A Skagen sleep in the hostel of the famous Danish chain Danostel, clean, with kitchen available which we used for our dinner in a room for 4 to ourselves, shared bathroom but very clean, almost empty hostel. .. 40 € per night, and they make you pay even the sheets and towels! The next day, we take the motorway towards Odense and we expect several miles in the car ... We arrive at their destination and are immediately put to sleep here to Danostel, 45 € per night in a room of 4 (just for us) with bathroom and kitchen facilities available ...
Odense is a city that has impressed me much, much revolves around the story of the writer Hans Christian Andersen, and has little else to offer. The center is filled with shops selling clothes, but the Danish fashion is not exactly the best. The most fascinating thing we saw was a "counter bicycles" placed at the beginning of a driveway and that since 2001 has continuously all the bikes that go from there ... you think ...
The day after we leave the city to reach the Island of Sun, after crossing the famous bridge (410 DKK A / R, 30 € and 30 others went to the back!) and we get to Stage where, however, we can not find a place to sleep and the tourist office is closed because it is Sunday. We decided therefore to think of the latest search for a place to sleep and go to visit the meantime Mons Klint, spectacular chalk cliffs overlooking the sea, which reminds me of the Cliff of Moher in Ireland, but unlike those I have fascinated more, it has been because there was practically no one has been or will be a beautiful day was the wonderful color that takes on the Baltic Sea in that area ...? After a good ice cream "cheap" at the bar of the visitor center we continue our search for housing for the night .... et voila, you turn the corner we encounter a unique B & B ... a lady with dirty clothes paint greets us with a big smile and showed us the rooms ... all painted by different artists, all with a particular theme, is that dedicated to birds, even decorated with a real tree, dedicated to fruit, the one with the canopy bed, one in Japanese style ... wonderful ... not to mention the common room where breakfast was served: a beautiful veranda with sea views and comfortable seating to enjoy the show! While Marco and I choose our room, she continues to paint his pictures in the yard ... I had known before there was such a place! For 45 euro per person with breakfast, towels
clean sheets and, of course we spend an unforgettable night in our four-poster bed! The next day we leave with a heavy heart that paradise, as it was dubbed by me and Mark, and we head towards the last leg of our tour, Copenhagen. The capital will host us for the last 4 nights of this trip.
In four days we can visit it all: the Tivoli park, but to make absolutely dear, the center with its famous street full of shops, the Stroget, the charming Nyhavn canal, with its characteristic sailboats and buildings colored bars on the lower floors, the Little Mermaid (I agree with the authors of Lonely Planet, even for me this statue sits atop of my list of monuments overvalued!), the wonderful Opera House, the Amalienborg Slot, where is the royal family, the Christiania hippie town that was occupied, the Carlsberg factory and we also take a boat trip to the channels.
course it is a city that runs well on foot, but if you want you can take "on loan" type shopping cart, the bicycle tourist, with a coin of 20 wreaths, take this bike in one of the many parking lots around the city and when you finish your ride, put the bike in one of them and turning it back on the chain you will get back your money back, simple!
One day we went by car even at Elsinore, to visit the famous castle of Hamlet, at the narrowest point, where Sweden seems you really too close ... and then along the coast to see the beach.
We also managed to watch the match of our team, Fiorentina, who on May 1 would play the semi-finals of UEFA, in a pub where they welcomed us like we were regulars there's an atmosphere beautiful (apart from the outcome of the game ... sigh!).
We flew away from Denmark just in time, Friday, May 2, prior to the invasion of a tourist attraction for the bridge, especially Italian, not to rise up off the taste of peace and that feeling relaxation of a country like Denmark can give you ..... even if you empty your wallet!
